Abstract

Requirements to modern equipment have been considered; key ways of improving sawing machines are presented. The possibility of using a new type of sawing machines to develop flexible automated sawmill lines (FASL) is pointed out. The advantages of FASL have been shown and goals to be achieved while developing FASL have been set.
