General Provisions

Lesnoy Zhurnal (Russian Forestry Journal) is a scientific peer-reviewed noncommercial periodical. 

The publication of articles in the journal is free of charge. The founder assumes an obligation to provide at its own expense peer review, academic and copy editing, production of soft and hard camera-ready copies, preprints and run, as well as its circulation. 

The journal publishes innovative scientific articles, which were never published before.

Language of the Journal: The journal is published in the Russian and English language. English is used for the table of contents of the journal’s issues, article titles, abstracts, keywords, and references.

Open Access Policy

The journal is an Open Access journal. It provides open access to its content ( on terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. The license allows other researchers to edit and take the scientific work as a basis for other scientific works, even for commercial purposes, as long as they indicate authorship and source and license their new scientific works on the same terms and conditions as the original one.

Publishing Ethics (General Regulations)

The editorial board and editorial staff of the journal are governed by provisions of Chapter 70 (Copyright) of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, follow the international publication ethics standards developed and approved by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and build on the experience of authoritative international journals, scientific associations, industry communities and publishers. Authors (researchers), the editorial team of the journal, reviewers and the publisher (founder) are under ethical obligations towards the publication and dissemination of research results.

Borrowings and Plagiarism

All incoming articles undergo a preliminary examination and checking in the Antiplagiat system (NArFU) – Articles with text originality not less than 80–85 % and self-citation not more than 15 % are allowed to be reviewed. Review articles originality must be at least 70 %. In the event of the discovery of multiple borrowings, the editorial staff acts in accordance with the principles of COPE. In case of suspicion in violation of publication ethics, conflict of interests, disputes the editorial staff acts in accordance with the same principles. Re-checking the article for plagiarism is carried out before the article publication.

Privacy Statement

The authors agree to submit their personal data to the publisher (License Agreement). The names, affiliations of authors and e-mail addresses published in the journal and posted on the journal’s website are intended solely for the purposes indicated by the journal and will not be used for any other purposes or provided to other people and organizations. When submitting manuscripts prepared in co-authorship, each of the contributing authors signs the consent to the collection, storage and use of personal data.

Peer Reviewing

All received articles that meet the requirements of the journal, are relevant to the remit of the journal and tested for plagiarism are sent for peer reviewing. The peer reviewing is carried out in accordance with the Ethical Code for Reviewers. The primary peer reviewing is carried out by the members of the editorial board and the editor-in-chief. The secondary peer reviewing (double blind) is carried out by an independent expert (2–3 peer reviewers for each manuscript evaluation). The peer reviewing period is approximately 1 month and depends on the remit of the manuscript and other particular circumstances. Herewith, the editorial staff makes every effort to expedite the peer reviewing. After peer reviewing, 65–70 % of manuscripts are sent for revision according to the comments of the editorial board members and independent peer reviewers, 30 % are rejected on the basis of negative peer reviews with a substantiated refusal, which is sent to the author signed by the journal’s editor-in-chief. The editorial board of the journal has the exclusive right for selection and/or rejection of manuscripts sent to the editorial office for publication.

The journal is published 6 times a year; it is about 100 original articles annually.
