Abstract

The article considers basic elements of the system of voluntary forest certification PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) in exclusion of illegally logged timber from trade. Statistical data on forest protection against forest legislation violations in the Leningrad region are analyzed. Conclusions about the significance of forest certification as an important tool for exclusion of illegally logged timber from trade turnover are made.
