Analysis of the Wood Properties Stated by Various Grading Rules

Abstract

Comparative analysis of the Russian standard for export sawn timber (GOST 26002-83)and the Nordic Timber grading rules has been performed. Variation in evaluation of theprevailing grade forming defect – size and number of knots – were revealed. It was disclosed, that the sawn timber exported under the Nordic Timber rules has better marketing prospects.
